On Saturday we bid farewell to our final (scheduled) work group for the season.
These wonderful volunteers have traveled from as far north as Maine and as far south as Washington DC to be a part of rebuilding in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.
Our visitors worked in partnership with American Baptist Home Mission Society (ABMHS) / American Baptist Churches of New Jersey (ABCNJ), A Future with Home (Greater NJ United Methodist Conference), Visitation Relief Center (Archdiocese of Trenton), Monmouth County Long Term Recovery Group, Habitat for Humanity and Churches Accomplishing Long Term Recovery (CALTR) (Reformed Church of Highland Park, NJ).
They worked at sites from Manahawkin to to Union Beach, building new homes, insulating storm damaged homes, installing sidewalks, clearing brush, painting, sheetrocking, etc.
Each group made special note of the warm welcome we provided, and the wonderful facilities we made available for their use.
A special “thank you” to Carolyn for taking care of coordinating schedules, paperwork, keys, etc; to Walter for clean-up above and beyond; to Chris of being on-site and available to the groups; and to all of you, FBC Family for embracing the vision of partnership in ministry!
